Wow, is all that comes to mind after seeing Kevin Locke (Cultural Ambassador) preform his Hoop of Life dance. I attend Devin's school assembly today to see Kevin. Kevin is a Lakota and Anishinabe Indian in South Dakota. Along with his hoop dancing, he gave the kids in attendance with information about his heritage, including the wonderful sound of flute playing, as well as some Indian sign language. The dance is symbolic prayer. Hoops represent the circle of life. The dancer began with one hoop and keeps adding and weaving the hoops into formations that represent our journey thru life.
One thing I enjoyed when he was done with his presntationm. He asked each teacher from 2nd and 3rd grade to pick two kids from their class. Kevin then taught the kids how to do a little dance with three hoops.

Wow, that looks just amazing! How cool that the kids get to learn about it!

This is so amazing! I would've loved to see him dance with the hoops of life. Sounds like very interesting performance. And the flute video was very nice too.
One of my love birds were named Lakota, if the translation was correct, it means Friend.
American Indians always fascinated me, that must have been exciting.
